The LECA program is a daily enrichment program based on social-cognitive learning theory and positive reinforcement. It was scientifically developed and validated by leading animal behaviorists, dog trainers, and veterinarians to help family pets be capable, healthy, and happy family members.
Social Cognitive Theory, SCT, is based on the idea that animals learn by observing others. This approach is proven to be 3X more effective than traditional techniques.

The LECA Curriculum
Clinics
The LECA™ clinics are short training programs designed for owners to learn techniques for proper management and development of their dogs at home.
Orientation
The objective of this two-week program is to introduce a new dog and family to the LECA enrichment program and the training staff.

CORE Curriculum
The CORE LECA™ curriculum introduces and reinforces basic obedience concepts, like sit, stay, come, down, and drop. We establish a foundation for communication and trust between the dog, the owners, family, and trainers, and establish basic rules of appropriate behavior.
Sports Curriculum
The Sports LECA™ curriculum introduces the dogs to various competitive athletic trials and games. This curriculum is designed to help high-energy dogs channel their energy through rally, agility, parkour, speed training, and strength development.
Working Curriculum
The Working LECA™ curriculum introduces the dogs to working activities. This curriculum is designed to help dogs channel their energy and instinct through field trials, nose work, tracking, protection, herding, and pack work.
Social Curriculum
The Social LECA™ curriculum introduces social service and emotional support for their human owners and families and provides additional opportunities to strengthen the bond with the pet. This curriculum includes therapy dog, service dog, Do as I Do, doga, and performance arts.

Our Approach: Positive & Fun!
We don't train dogs to pass a test or a trial. They never fail and we do not punish.
We follow the guidelines provided by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (link-1 and link-2) guidelines for engaging with dogs.
The use of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) requires a strong and positive relationship between human and dog. Any aggressive responses or punishments significantly impede our objectives and mission.
CUSTOMIZED LESSON PLANS
Every dog is an individual. We create custom lesson plans for each dog based on specific enrichment goals and progress with the curriculum.
PERFORMANCE REPORTING
Having a plan isn't enough. We use rigorous, standardized quantitative metrics to track the dog's progress. Assessments are done by trainers, assistants, and at home.
